Hambro Sport Horses Burgham International Horse Trials

During Hambro Sport Horses Burgham this year, Lexi and Jonathan Hambro organised a fantastic Hog Roast and Rosé evening in aid Riders Minds, which offers mental health support to all riders.Victoria Wright, who founded Riders Minds with her late husband Matthew, said: “We cannot thank Lexi, Jonathan and Martyn Johnson enough for putting on an incredible fundraising event at the Hambro Sport Horses Burgham International Horse Trials. "£2,000 was raised for Riders Minds, which helps us to keep improving the services we provide constantly. We’ve helped over 100 people since Riders Minds started, showing how much the service was needed and we will continue to help many more. Hambro Sport Horses Burgham International Horse Trials

Huge congratulations to the six riders who have been selected to represent Team GB at the FEI Eventing European Championships at Avenches, Switzerland in September.It's nice to note that they include the combinations who finished first and second in our Hambro Sport Horses CCI4*-S a month ago - Izzy Taylor Eventing with Monkeying Around, and Sarah Bullimore Eventing with Corouet - and the third-placed rider, Kitty King Eventing, who is a former winner of the class.Of course, Ros Canter Eventing and Allstar B won our CCI4*-S in 2020, Piggy March is a multiple Hambro Sport Horses Burgham winner, and Nicola Wilson Eventing took the CCI4*-S in 2015. Hambro Sport Horses Burgham International Horse Trials

One of the nicest things that happened at Hambro Sport Horses Burgham International (28 July-1 August) was Niamh Richardson's fifth place in BE100 section S on HH Monbeg Vogue.Niamh is the inaugural winner of the Hambro Sport Horses Scholarship, which was set up by our title and CCI4*-S sponsors Lexi and Jonathan Hambro to support and reward a talented rider who lacks resources.From a huge number of applicants, Niamh, 21, from Stockton-on-Tees, was selected to ride the Hambros' seven-year-old HH Monbeg Vogue ('Robin'), and to receive support, mentoring and training.Niamh started riding aged 10 at her local riding school. She got her first pony when she was 14, and evented her own horse for three seasons before selling him this spring.Lexi Hambro says: "We selected Niamh from the final three candidates after a sleepless night and lots of discussion as to who would be the best fit for Robin. It was a very hard decision as all three candidates were very deserving. "It was vital to have feedback from our riders - Tom Jackson Eventing, Becky Heappey and Alicia Hawker Eventing - who all agreed that Niamh had a very natural seat and a positive attitude. "While Niamh lived the furthest away, we felt that we could support her from a distance. We gave Niamh the good news a few days after her 21st birthday. "It gives us all great pleasure to be able to give Niamh the opportunity, especially as she was without a current horse. We are excited to see their partnership grow and ready to assist where we can."Prior to Burgham, Niamh spent two months based with Robin's former rider Alicia Hawker in Gloucestershire.Niamh, who is doing a degree in policing at the University of Sunderland, says: "Robin is amazing - so sweet and laidback, and really well-bred and talented. "I thought applying for the scholarship was a total shot in the dark, and it is incredible to win - I can't believe it has happened to me! "I am so grateful to Lexi and JC for this opportunity - it is so generous of them, and so exciting.
